Interesting Topic for 2nd FCP 2019 Spring Mental Health Workshop

We’re looking forward to the second workshop of the FCP 2019 Spring Series on Wednesday, April 3,  8:30 AM to 12 Noon.  Anthony L. Rostain, M.D., will present “Improving Clinical Outcomes for Children and Adolescents with Neurodevelopmental Disorders”

This workshop will provide an understanding of common neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adolescents, such as ADHD, ASD, Tourette, Semantic Pragmatic Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Disorder, and other learning disabilities. Dr. Rostain will address the challenges in assessing and treating these disorders and the most effective interventions, including medication, behavior management, social skills, family support and school-based interventions.

Workshop Objectives

At the end of this activity, the learner will be able to:

* Describe common neurodevelopmental disorders in children and adolescents

* State the challenges in assessing and treating childhood neurodevelopmental disorders

* Discuss effective interventions for children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders

Dr. Rostain is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania and is a past President of the American Professional Society of ADHD and Related Disorders. His clinical focus is ‘lifespan neurodevelopmental psychiatry,’ which includes patients of all ages with a Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Tourette Syndrome, Learning Disabilities (verbal and nonverbal), and related social learning disorders.

He is also the Co-Director of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Program. Dr Rostain’s research interests focus on improving clinical outcomes for patients with neuropsychiatric disorders of all ages. He has co-authored two books on adult ADHD, entitled “The Adult ADHD Tool Kit: Using CBT to Facilitate Coping Inside and Out” and “Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Adult ADHD: An Integrative Psychosocial and Medical Approach.”
