First Fall Workshop Will Address Anxiety & School Refusal in Children and Adolescents

FCP will welcome Dr. Randi Pochtar from the NYU Child Study Center to present “Identifying and Treating Anxiety and School Refusal in Children and Adolescents” next Wednesday as the first workshop of the FCP 2018 Fall Series.

Anxiety and school refusal are common problems in children and adolescents, and a particular concern due to the potential short- and long-term impact on academic, social, emotional, and family functioning. Furthermore, the longer a child misses school or avoids other important areas of his/her life, the more likely these problems are to develop. This insightful workshop will discuss the identification and evaluation of the most common anxiety disorders in youth, the most common reasons for school refusal behavior, and the most effective treatments for targeting these issues.

Goals of this Workshop:

  • Identify the most common anxiety disorders in children and adolescents.
  • Explain how school refusal functions for school-avoidant children and adolescents.
  • Discuss the most effective interventions for school avoidance behavior in children and adolescents, including individual, parenting, and school treatment components.

Please participate in the workshop and join the continuing conversation with the Blog.

As usual, the Workshop will be held at the Health & Wellness Center Auditorium, 847 Easton Rd., Warrington, PA 18976 from 8:30 AM – 12:00 PM.
