Foundations Announces 2008 Partnership in Education Award Winners
Students from Bensalem H.S.; Bristol H.S.; Central Bucks H.S. East; Central Bucks H.S. South; Central Bucks H.S. West; Council Rock North; Council Rock South; Harry S. Truman H.S.; Morrisville Middle Senior H.S.; Neshaminy H.S; New Hope-Solebury H.S.; Neshaminy High School; Palisades H.S.; Pennridge H.S.; Pennsbury H.S.; Quakertown Senior High School; William Tennent H.S.
Doylestown, PA (June, 2008) - Ronald Bernstein, Executive Director
of Foundations Community Partnership has announced the winners of the annual
2008 Partnership in Education program. The Foundations Partnership in
Education program recognizes the achievements of local Bucks County high
school seniors for their demonstrated community service, commitment to
academic performance, and quality of character. Students are nominated by
their guidance counselor or a member of the school administration. 16
students were chosen to receive the award this year.

Mr. Bernstein presented checks for $750 to:
- Rajvi Patel at Bensalem High School - volunteers with the American Red Cross as an instructor/counselor at Project Safe Kids and as an ambassador at community fairs and blood drives. She also volunteers at the YWCA's Early Academic Intervention Program for first grade students.
- Nikko Mosco at Bristol High School - performs functions for the Mayors Youth Advisory Council and for the children's hospital and nursing home. She also assists with the school's blood drive and was recognized by the American Legion for being an outstanding student and contributor.
- Jane Kuhn of Central Bucks High School East - cares for individuals with special needs and is an elder representative for her church. She sells lemonade during school lunches to benefit Alex's lemonade stand.
- Matthew Mudalel of Central Bucks High School South - has worked in the Dominican Republic as a missionary/construction worker, volunteers for Habitat for Humanity, and worked with the Hepatitis B. Foundation as an intern. He also participates in community service events with Key Club, Interact Club and the German Honors society.
- Angela DiBattiste at Central Bucks High School West - is actively involved with Doylestown Hospital and A Woman's Place Shelter. She has gone to Peru with Cross Cultural Solutions and will be serving in Ecuador this summer.
- James Larounis of Council Rock High School North - has volunteered at Camp Discovery, a camp for underprivileged children and was Amazing Race Club President. He is also a member of the Literacy Club, National Honor Society and Political Science Club.
- Dane Carroll of Council Rock High School South - has logged over 1000 hours of community service work almost exclusively with the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary/Civil Air Patrol, where he serves as a Lt. Colonel and Cadet Commander.
- Yuzzy "Gaina" Dubuisson of Harry S. Truman High School - participated in the Jewish National Funds's Common Ground Mission to Israel. She volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and volunteers countless hours to V.O.I.C.E. (Variety of Individual Cultural Expression). She currently volunteers for the Barack Obama Presidential Campaign.
- Sarah O'Connor of Morrisville Middle-Senior High School - volunteers at Special Equestrians, the Salvation Army, at her local church, and tutors sixth grade students after school.
- Megan Magee of Neshaminy High School - volunteers for Middletown Police Disaster Drill, is an active member of the national Honor society and serves a peer tutor.
- Abigail F. Beach of New Hope-Solebury High School - gives her time to many community organizations, including the Jonathan D. Krist Foundation to raise money for Play Pumps in Africa, Relay for Life, Community Thanksgiving Food Drive, New Hope Flood Relief, and Solebury United Methodist Church Mission Trip.
- Amy Carlineo of Palisades High School - volunteers at Doylestown Hospital, the Bucks County Horse Park, Students Against Destructive Decisions, and is a member of the Spanish Honor Society.
- Alyssa Leister of Pennridge High School -has participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program, was a Peer Mentor at Lancaster Theological Seminary's Leadership Now Summer Program, and organized a benefit concert for child counseling in Africa.
- Anand Kumar of Pennsbury High School - attends the Frankford Hospital Medical Honors Program and volunteers for the Red Cross, a local emergency room center and was elected to the office of vice president of the student council.
- Quinn Detweiler of Quakertown Community Senior High School - has dedicated extensive community services hours to his church and community. He has participated in missionary trips to inner city Philadelphia and Ireland.
- Jesnie George at William Tennent High School - is a CCD teacher, volunteers with the Salvation Army and on Election Day. She also participates in various community service activities through the National Honor Society, Student Government and the Community Service Club.
Many of the recipients of the Foundations Partnership in Education program
are also being recognized as a part of their school's commencement
activities or other ceremonies to honor outstanding students. They may use
the monetary award for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or
educational purposes, including payment of their college tuition and related
expenses.
"We were delighted to see how these young people are developing meaningful
and positive roles in our community," says Bernstein. "They are to be
congratulated for their efforts and encouraged in their future
undertakings."
In addition to the Partnership in Education program, Foundations will again
sponsor its annual Partnership in Youth Services program, to assist the
endeavors of non-profit agencies serving children and adolescents in Greater
Central Bucks County. The application forms for the Partnership in Youth
Services program are mailed out in the fall.
