Foundations Community Partnership Helps Struggling Red Cross Shelter with Funding
Doylestown/Levittown, PA (December 21, 2007) – When Ron Bernstein, Executive Director of Foundations Community Partnership (FCP) read that the American Red Cross of Lower Bucks County was going to lose $100,000 of its homeless shelter’s funding, he decided to do something about it. Spurred by a recent article in the Doylestown Intelligencer indicating that the American Red Cross may have to cut its services, Mr. Bernstein approached his board of directors with the idea of offering the Red Cross an emergency grant and they immediately stepped up to the plate with a check for $10,000.

“Helping to fund the Red Cross homeless shelter in our community fits into our mission of supporting the behavioral health and human service needs of children and young adults in Bucks County,” says Ron Bernstein, executive director, Foundations Community Partnership. “Since half the population served by the shelter is children, we felt compelled to offer our financial support.”
“We are delighted and overwhelmed by FCP’s generous donation,” says Kathleen Marsh
Chief Executive Officer, American Red Cross - Lower Bucks County Chapter. “It is always a struggle to find funds, especially when the state cut our funding by $100,000.”
Every night over 800 people in Bucks County have no place to call home. The shelter in Levittown offers a wide array of supportive services, including case management, advocacy with government agencies, on-site workshops, education services for the school children in public schools, pre-school through Bucks County Head Start, recreational events for families, mental health, drug and alcohol treatment options and transportation.
